| Headline: | Consultancy: To “develop communication and training resource for the awareness campaign for cassava brown streak disease (CBSD)” |
| Description: | CBSD is a new disease in most parts of Eastern and Central Africa (ECA) that has led to massive loses in cassava productivity, food and income for several people in the cassava value chain. It threatens to destroy all cassava varieties if nothing is done to stem its spread. At the moment there is inadequate information as regards the disease. Many farmers, extension staff, NGO’s policy makers and even some researchers (scientists) do not know how CBSD expresses itself, its effects and how it spreads. It is therefore very important to create awareness on the severity and effects of the disease and how to manage it, as researchers continue their efforts in discovering more effective means of overcoming the CBSD pandemic. There is an urgent need to develop resource materials on CBSD that can be used in the awareness campaigns and also to train trainers who will carry out the campaigns in the different countries in the ECA. |
